Training: Robust Design Fundamentals

MODULE

Robust Design Fundamentals

The module covers a general introduction to the fundamentals of Robust Design - primarily focusing on kinematic design, decoupling, primary functions and tolerance design.

Course objectives

After course completion the participant will be able to:

  • Be able to apply kinematic theory on type cases for:
    • System design – review and synthesis
    • Detailed design – review and synthesis
    • Calculating the kinematic-index
  • Be able to apply structure considerations for type cases and setup design criterions for these
  • Understand the basics for designing robust functions into products by robust design thinking
  • Be able to apply decoupling theory on type cases
  • Understand the basics of tolerance design and link it to other robust design disciplines
  • Have gained experience with applying the methods and insights into how to balance compromises
