MODULE
Robust Design Fundamentals
The module covers a general introduction to the fundamentals of Robust Design - primarily focusing on kinematic design, decoupling, primary functions and tolerance design.
Course objectives
After course completion the participant will be able to:
- Be able to apply kinematic theory on type cases for:
- System design – review and synthesis
- Detailed design – review and synthesis
- Calculating the kinematic-index
- Be able to apply structure considerations for type cases and setup design criterions for these
- Understand the basics for designing robust functions into products by robust design thinking
- Be able to apply decoupling theory on type cases
- Understand the basics of tolerance design and link it to other robust design disciplines
- Have gained experience with applying the methods and insights into how to balance compromises
